Intra Oral X-Ray
There are mainly two types of Digital Intraoral X-rays which are used to cover small areas Digital Intraoral X-rays, which are digital, hence causing one-tenth of radiations compare to conventional X-rays. They are safe for even pregnant women and give prompt and good details of the area of interest. Digital Intraoral X-Rays are the most common type of dental X-Rays taken. These X-rays provide a lot of details and allow your dentist to find cavities, check the health of the tooth, root and bone surrounding the tooth, check the status of developing teeth and monitor the general health of your teeth and Jawbone.
Extra oral X-Rays : O.P.G
Another type is Orthopantomogram (O.P.G.) A dental panoramic radiograph showing the maxilla and mandible, all the teeth including the Wisdom teeth. Very good X-ray when information for whole jaw is needed. They are also helpful in gathering information related to TMJ and Sinuses. They play a vital role in case planning for full mouth rehabilitation and implants. The frontal and maxillary sinuses the nasal cavity and the temporal mandibular joint and other nearby head & neck anatomy. It’s a two dimensional view.
