Implant Supported F.P.D.
Dental Implants are a very good method of replacing missing teeth. When there is loss of single tooth or few teeth from any part of the jaw then they are replaced by crowns (F.P.D.) on the implants. These crowns can be single or multiple depending on the number of missing teeth and accordingly the number of underlying implant also changes.
The whole F.P.D. comprises of 3 parts:
1). Implant which lies in the bone under the gums
2). Abutment which is joined to implant by help of a screw and
3). Crown attached to abutment by help of screw or a cementing media.
Ideally one implant replaces one tooth but when lot of teeth has to be replaced then on few implants we can give multiple crowns or F.P.D.
