Ceramic Veneers
A veneer is a special covering made of various types of material which covers the tooth from only the front side. Different materials used for it are ceramic, composite and zirconia. When we do smile design ceramic veneers play a vital role owing to high aesthetics and reservation of tooth structure.
Procedure: usually done in 2 to 3 appointments, after initial case planning the first step comprises of preparing the teeth and taking measurements followed by temporization. Second appointment is for trial and checking the expected outcome and in final appointment the veneer is fixed on the teeth with help of dental adhesives.
Owing to their high refractive index and natural appearance, ceramic veneers give very good results. Zirconia veneers are longer lasting than ceramic veneers but have somewhat lesser aesthetic results. Composite veneers/laminates have the advantage of being done in single visit and more economic but the expected life is less than other two materials.
